IT Policy Board
To promote diligence in creating and maintaining IT policies, in January 2006 CITES created an IT Policy Board (ITPB). The board's role is to identify areas where new or updated policies are needed, enlist knowledgeable people to analyze and draft policies, ensure adequate vetting with the campus community, and see that policies are routed to the appropriate existing approval body. Its guiding principles are that effective policy
- must be informed by its impact on operational staff and activities
- is created only with broad participation from the campus community
- requires successful communication to the affected community
- must be backed by thorough and transparent analysis
Members of the campus community can bring policy needs to the attention of ITPB by sending email to cites@uiuc.edu.
